Miss Abbie - Teacher
Abbie started dancing with Oakwood Academy when she was only two and a half years old studying ISTD Imperial Ballet, Modern Theatre and Tap Dance and hasn’t stopped since. Whilst dancing with Oakwood Academy Abbie completed her major dancing exams in all three genres.
Abbie also attended the Urdang Academy in Covent Garden for two years from the ages of 11-13 on a Musical Theatre course where she got to perform in a revue show and also in the musical Godspell. Abbie has also had the opportunity to perform, with Oakwood Academy, in Young Performers 2000 which took place at Her Majesties Theatre, London; this is an experience she will never forget. Other opportunities Abbie has had include a master class with Ian Waite from Strictly Come Dancing and a week course with Hofesh Shechter. Abbie attended the Toynbee School where she was Head Girl in Year 11 and chose to study GCSE Dance, Drama and Music. As well as a love for dancing herself she has always wanted to teach dance and pass her passion of dancing onto others. To further her studies Abbie attended Chichester College after leaving school and studied a BTEC National Diploma in Dance and a BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Musical Theatre, passed with Distinction and Distinction*, alongside the ISTD Teaching Qualifications, DDI and DDE. Abbie is now a fully qualified and Registered ISTD Dance Teacher in Imperial Ballet, Modern Theatre and Tap Dance. As well as teaching children Abbie also runs very successful Adult Ballet and Adult Tap classes in the Chandlers Ford area and is a newly qualified FitSteps teacher too. In her spare time (not that there is much of it!!) Abbie enjoys performing and has been in many shows with a local theatre company and Christchurch Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Abbie would like to thank Oakwood Academy, Miss Beverley and her family for their continued support throughout her dancing and training.
